Lord of All or Not Lord At All

            Many believers say, "Jesus is Lord," but do we live as though He truly is? It’s easy to acknowledge Christ with our words while still holding parts of our lives back from His authority. Yet, the reality is this: if He is not Lord of all, then He is not Lord at all. Dr. Myles Munroe wrote in one of his books “If He is Lord, you cannot say, “Lord….but”, or “Lord….except”, or “Lord….wait.” If He is Lord, the only thing you can say is, “Lord….yes”.”

CALL TO TOTAL SURRENDER

Jesus never called for partial devotion. In Luke 9:23, He said, “If anyone would

come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.” The cross was a symbol of death, meaning that following Christ requires a complete surrender of our will, desires, and control. We don’t get to pick and choose which areas of our lives He governs. He wants all of us.

When we try to compartmentalize our faith by trusting God in some areas while clinging to control in others, we deceive ourselves. We might say He is Lord but still operate as if He isn’t. This is where the struggle lies, we want the benefits of His Lordship without fully submitting to Him as Lord. We want to give Him control part of the time while we hold on to certain areas because for whatever reason we do not want to give that part up to Him.

LORD IN EVERY AREA

If Jesus is truly Lord, He must be Lord over:

• Time – Do we seek Him first, or does He get the leftovers of our day? Is he priority throughout the day?

• Finances – Do we trust Him as our provider, or do we stress over money and rely on our own efforts? Do we focus on “chasing the bag”?

• Relationships – Do we love, forgive, and honor others as He commands?

• Emotions and Thoughts – Do we surrender anxiety, anger, doubt. Or any other feeling and emotion to Him?

• Calling and Purpose – Do we follow His leading, or do we pursue our own plans?

When we make Jesus Lord of all, we walk in greater freedom. True surrender brings peace because we no longer carry burdens we were never meant to bear. Instead of striving, we trust. Instead of controlling, we yield.

HEART CHECK

Ask yourself: Is there any area of my life where I have not fully submitted to Christ? If He asked me to let go of something today, would I? These questions are not meant to bring guilt but are an invitation into deeper relationship and trust.

Jesus is either Lord of all, or He is not Lord at all. Will you surrender completely and let Him take His rightful place?
